Fall Out Boy has confirmed a November 4 release date for its fifth studio album, Folie a Deux. Appropriately enough, the Election Day release date was revealed Monday, the same day the group issued an online mixtape titled Welcome To the New Administration. The digital mixtape includes five demo tracks likely to appear in completed form on Folie: "ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac," "America's Sweethearts," "Lake Effect Kid," "I Don't Care (27)" and "Catch Me if You Can/Proclamation of Emancipation."

Pixies mainman Frank Black tells UK music magazine NME he's not ruled out the possibility of the band recording its first all-new studio album since 1991's Trompe Le Monde. "It's just a waiting game right now," said Black. "Whatever we do in the future is gonna have to be fresh. I have to see if the band as a whole wants to go into the recording studio for a new record. That makes sense on some level."

Hillary Clinton were all pleased and proud Tuesday night when the New York Senator chose to use BHTM's "Blue Sky" off their current All the Love You Need album before and after her stirring speech at the Democratic National Convention. A delegation of politically active rock acts, including Rage Against the Machine, State Radio, former MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer, The Coup and Denver's own Flobots rocked the Rocky Mountain mile high city yesterday during the Democratic National Convention. All the acts performed as part of the Tent State Music Festival to End the War held at the Denver Coliseum and sponsored by the Iraq Veterans Against the War Foundation. DEMOCRACY AT WORK: FEDS BUST GNR STREAMER!
The AP reports federal authorities have arrested a blogger suspected of streaming unreleased songs from Guns N' Roses' still unreleased Chinese Democracy album. On Wednesday, FBI agents paid Kevin Cogill, 27, a visit, immediately taking him into custody on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws. The U.S. government accuses Cogill of posting nine Chinese Democracy songs on his website in June.

Oasis, long known for their unabashed love of The Beatles, will pay tribute to John Lennon on "I'm Outta Time" a track found on the band's upcoming Dig Out Your Soul album, due October 7. "Liam [Gallagher] has so much passion for the subject," a source told Britain's The Sun newspaper. "He's obsessed. That's why the song is so brilliant and poignant." "Time" will actually feature a brief audio clip of a Lennon interview.

Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan says despite reports Spacehog singer Royston Langdon is on the short list to replace Scott Weiland as the band's lead singer, at the end of the day, he probably won't be the guy. McKagan confirmed to Billboard that the band did play with Langdon and that "he's f***ing awesome, at this point I'd have to say no" on him replacing Weiland. "We just have to make sure it's the right guy," Duff adds. "It's a tough thing, man."

The Police last week said goodbye for good following their final farewell concert at New York's Madison Square Garden. Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland kicked off their last show ever with a surprise cover of the Cream classic "Sunshine Of Your Love," followed immediately by – appropriately enough – the New York Police Department band joining them onstage for "Message in a Bottle." At one point, Sting acknowledged the band's record-breaking reunion tour, telling the audience, "It's been a huge honor to get back with my good friends," before switching gears, saying, "The real triumph of this tour is that we haven't strangled each other – that doesn't mean it hadn't crossed my mind." If this time is indeed the last time, the final song The Police will ever play together is "Next To You."

Paramore guitarist Josh Farro tells Billboard the band has "anywhere from seven to 10 songs" they're already working on possibly destined for the follow-up to their 2007 breakthrough, Riot. "It's mainly just music that I've written and [singer Hayley [Williams] has some lyrics and melodies," he adds. "It's a slow process."

Metallica debuted a new song, "Cyanide," during its performance Saturday at this year's one-day Ozzfest in Dallas. CNN WELCOMES JOURNEY WITH OPEN ARMS!
There was no escaping Journey this weekend on CNN as the news channel found plenty of time in between wall-to-wall John Edwards affair coverage to air a profile on the band during its News To Me segment. (Watch it here) Journey's Wal-Mart exclusive 3-disc Revelation set is available now; the group's current North American tour with Heart and Cheap Trick continues tomorrow in Virginia Beach, VA.
MICHAELS POURS SUGAR, NOT FUEL ON FEUD!
Poison frontman Bret Michaels is a rock of lover, not a fighter and refused to be dragged into a potential feud with Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott, who recently said bands like Poison and Motley Crue had "no substance in their music" and therefore relied on their image throughout the 80's. Michaels told a national radio audience: "I'm a Def Leppard fan. Joe Elliott, I don't really know, but he seems like a decent guy…I don't wanna fight Joe. I'm not in a fight with Def Leppard."
METALLICA EXHUMES NEW DEATH SONG!
Metallica debuted a new song, "Cyanide," during its performance Saturday at this year's one-day Ozzfest in Dallas. It is the first song from the band's forthcoming Death Magnetic album (due September 12) to be performed live. Metallica's 17-song set also included fan favorites "Nothing Else Matters," "Sad But True," "One," "Enter Sandman" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls," among others.

Metallica bassist James Hetfield wants fans and critics alike to know that just because he and drummer Lars Ulrich have compared their upcoming Death Magnetic (due Sept. 12) to their classic albums like Master Of Puppets, the band is not ripping off itself. Hetfield told MTV: "The last thing I want is someone to think, 'Oh, they had to go back to Puppets because that was the best album, and they're doing it because we want it.' If we start writing songs for our fans, something's gone wrong. At the end of the day, we have to write it because we love it."
